Its almost the end of 2014, so without wasting time let's look back at some of the best films released this year that weren't just some mind blower action entertainers or film festival movies that general audience doesn't care about. It's an overall chart where we tried to include the best one's that you should not miss.

10. Holiday: The A.R. Murugadoss directed south remake never looked all that appealing from its very first trailer. there was no hit song too to excite the moviegoers and the slow start of the film at the box office essentially proves that. But the film became Akshay Kumar's first 100 grosser in nearly two years and the sole reason behind this success is the great word of mouth the film got from the audience, though critics weren't all that impressed by it.

9. Filmistaan : The National award winner film directed by Nitin Kakkar which shows how cinema can be the universal panacea for co- existence was a critical darling. Though the film was completed back in 2012, was released last year and despite it's largely positive reviews could not find an audience at the cinema halls.

08. Finding Fanny : 2014 was a great year for female oriented films and the last edition to that list was this journey based movie that stars Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Nasiruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia. Critics anonymously praised its direction, screenplay, cinematography, performance by all the lead cast. Though it opened with respectable numbers at the box office, The audience weren't all that impressed by it, resulting a below average status.

07. CityLights : When it comes to the actors with good script sense Rajkumar Rao is continuously becoming the most faithful one. Both of the movies he worked this year were praised by the critics and audiences alike. Directed by Hansal Mehta 'CityLights' depicts the life of a struggling couple who has came to Mumbai from Rajasthan in search of livelihood. Though the film wasn't a big success like Queen, it's 7.5 crore nett total was enough to recover its low production and marketing cost.

06. Mary Kom : From it's announcement to the release of first poster, there has been tremendous speculation surrounding India's first female centric sports biopic and the film's very good opening at the box office proves that theory. Though the reviews aren't as great as the comparable 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', Mary Kom still is one of the best reviewed wide release of the year. While some Critics complained on the more fictional part of the film, Priyanka Chopra's performance as Mary Kom got unanimous praise and she is almost confirmed to swipe all the major awards next year.
