Happy New Year creates havoc at the box office over
the Diwali weekend collecting just a shy of 100 crore making an all time
record beating the collection of amir khan's dhoom3 the previous record
holder. the Farah Khan directed film starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starts the weekend with a bang. it collected 40 crore making
it the highest single day in Bollywood, since it was Diwali day the
collection got a huge boost from the festive season.On saturday the
film collected 28 crore which is a drop of 40% from the previous day.
Sunday saw a little upward trend barely collecting better than Saturday. Overall the film collected 97 crore in it's first weekend, which is a
great result of its own but considering that the film start with such
hugely, the film should pass the 100 crore nett mark.
The film is definitely a success, but Monday frog will determine how big
the success it will be. but one thing is clear that word of mouth isn't
that good. So Dhoom3 number is out of reach.
Overseas where S.R.K is regarded as the biggest star, Happy New Year become the star's top opener beating that of Chennai Express with a collection of 7.5 million us dollar. the current record holder is once again Dhoom3 with 10 million.Since Diwali period don't have the same appeal like Christmas in overseas market . So it's a very satisfactory result.

to become the highest grosses of the year, since Dhoom3 number is out
of reach.
