Some people were expecting that the 20 year gap between the original and the sequel will held back Dumb and Dumber to from opening at no one at the box office, but the Jim Carry and Jeff Denials led comedy proves that audience still care for their characters. The long awaited comedy opened with a very good 38 million which can be compared to last years Anchorman 2 and Best Man Holiday, two long delayed sequel whose opened with 26 and 30 million respectively. Dumb and Dumber is undoubtedly a more popular film than those but the long gap and recent box office performance of Jim carry led films make the trade to believe that this one is also going to be a miss. but the reunion of the actors and the directors duo, coupled with the 90's nostalgia makes this one a easier sell.

The Christopher Nolan's biggie doesn't disappoint either, after opening softer than expected it eased 39 percent to an estimated 29 million. this is far from Gravity's great 23 percent drop but still a good sign considering the mixed word of mouth. probably the older crowd and IMAX screen helps the film greatly. There is a big event film next weekend in the form of The Hunger Games: MockingJay : Part 1 which is expected to do some serious havoc at the box office, so Interstellar really need to spread more word of mouth to pass 200 million milestone, which still will be disappointing for some.
