20th century fox had a great year so far with 7 number one debut, most for any studio in 2014. Though there 2015 schedule isn't all that strong and unlikely to repeat such kind of success, there 2016 schedule is even more stronger with names like Avatar 2 and next installment of the X-Man franchise. but another long been developed sequel film also has a spot in there scheduled dates. The sequel of 1996's highest grossing film 'Independence Day'.
Since that year will mark the 20th anniversary of the film, fox locked the release date long before. but there was hardly any news regarding the project. finally fox decided to green light the project and considering the release date is just a year and half letter that completely make sense.
Will Smith will not return and no plot details and cast members haven't been confirmed yet though Ronald Emmirich is definitely returning. Nicolas Wright and James A. Woods wrote the script. Carter Blanchard rewrote the first draft of the script that was done by Emmerich and Dean Devlin, and then James Vanderbilt. Emmerich is producing with Devlin and Harald Kloser.

Well, you guys need to hurry since like others this writer too think that one and half year won't be enough to complete such an effect heavy film.
