Well, the much published 'disastrous' November has ended, but Bollywood is still struggling and if the early reviews of Action Jackson is any indicator; the film is going to enter the same list of Happy Ending and Ungli. The Pravu Deva directed film that has Ajay Devgan doing a double role was expected to open well, at least on the single screens. But sources reveals that while multiplex isn't all that well as expected, the single screen opening is also below the levels of the director's last film, Shahid Kapoor starer 'R.. Rajkumar' which has lower cost. That film was penned by critics but the response of Action Jackson is even worse. Even some critics go so far of giving it an absolute 0 or 0.5 star.
Site like Bollywood Hungama who usually acts kind to such Masala entertainer told in their review giving it 2 stars.
" The film has no script whatsoever and has been put together haphazardly on the editing table glued together which non- sensical graphics and animation. On the whole, ACTION JACKSON is a highly avoidable affair."
Gulfnews suggests ” Several heads are decapitated and torsos slashed in action drama Action Jackson, but it’s the viewers who feel the pain. There’s no easier way to say this: but Ajay Devgn’s latest film is traumatic and is an endurance test of the worst kind." ending the review with just 1 star.
Giving just an half star Saibal Chatterji of NDTV called the film a surefire Golden Kela contender and added that it could give Humshakals a run for its money.
While The choreographer turned director's films are critics proof, considering its huge cost we wonder if the film can survive such reviews coupled with below average opening.
