Dropping 56 percent Penguins of Madagascar remained on second place with an $11.1 million, family films typically fell hard on the weekend after thanksgiving. through 12 days of release the Madagascar spin off earned a very modest $49.59 million. since there is no new direct competition until January Penguins will probably held well through the holiday period.
Surprisingly last weekend's other new release Horrible Bosses 2 had the best hold among the wide releases, the sequel fell just 44 percent to earn $8.6 million and jumped two spot from it's poor fifth place opening of last weekend. though that hold doesn't mean much since it's running a disappointing 45 percent behind the $ 65.67 million twelve-day take of 2011's Horrible Bosses.
Disney's Big Hero 6 placed in fourth with an estimated $8.13 million. with $177.55 million so far its in a very good position and will ultimately earn over $200 million.
Interstellar wasn't far behind. the Christopher Nolan directed sci-fi space drama eased 49 percent to earn $8 million with an overall gross of $158 million.
