Royal One Day Cup:1st Quarter Final: Nottinghamshire v Durham Preview And Prediction

Monday 24 August 2015

Trent Bridge,Nottingham On Tuesday first quarter-final of Royal One Day Cup will be played at trent bridge as the excitement of cricket fans in England will switch to 50-overs format. The Home team is heavy favourite to win this fixture as durham is considered just lucky enough to get place into knockout stages. It will be definately fight between Nottinghamshire batsman and Durham bowler. The hosts batting line up is looking in great form while credit goes to bowlers of durham who booked a place here for quarter-finals for their team by performing just what needed. The Hosts Nottinghamshire topped there group with some consistence performance in group stages while durham won their last couple of crucial group matches against Leicestershire and Derbyshire to claim quarter-finals spot. Both the team met two times in previous season of royal one day cup, durham won both ,in the group stages by six wickets and in the semi-final by 83 runs with the inngs of 164 from Ben Stokes. But Ben Stokes is unlikely to feature in this match which will be a major set back for durham. So yet the records are in favour of  durham but notts have beatean twice in T20 format this year and it will be totally a different scenario when they will face consistently performing home team who has a very good batting line-up.

                                                   TEAM NEWS
For Hosts Nottinghamshire Stuart Broad will not play and australian allrounder Daniel Christian is almost confirmed to replace Imran Tahir for the overseas player spot in team who is in South Africa for national duties.
Durham have also confirmed that both the internationals Ben Stokes and Mark Wood, are not to feature in the match, which will be a huge set back for them.So Collingwood will be left with huge responsibilty in batting here.
Here are the squads from which playing XI will be choosed-
Nottinghamshire Outlaws Jake Ball, Dan Christian, Luke Fletcher, Harry Gurney, Alex Hales, Brett Hutton, Steven Mullaney, Samit Patel, Chris Read, Brendan Taylor, James Taylor and Riki Wessels. Durham squad - Stoneman, Mustard, Borthwick, Clark, Richardson, Collingwood, Muchall, MacLeod, Pringle, Jennings, Hastings, Onions, Rushworth.

                                                         PREDICTION
I think with the kind of batting the hosts have and with the kind of form they have been in royal one day cup it will be pretty much one sided contest and if durham need to create any fight here they will need something special with the likes of Collingwood and Mustard
                                          NOTTINGHAMSHIRE TO WIN !!
