Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger surprised everyone with the announcement of the sequel to their most profitable franchise toy story. they even locked the 6 june 2017 release date for the film.
Today, Lasseter himself said "We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee, and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself."
This news comes with a lot of criticism since everyone believes that the franchise is just perfect as a trilogy. the way the last film was ended in 2010, made this announcement nothing less than a big joke especially for the fans. but there's season to believes that the film will be more than just a cash cow, since John Lessester is directing the film himself. yes, he also directed Cars 2, but we should believes that pixar definitely has a great idea to continue this amazing journey of woody and Andy's other toys.
