When your movie earned a billion and became the highest grossing animation film of all time as well as the highest grossing film of the year, logically a sequel should be green lighted very soon. But since the company in question is Disney, who hardly made sequels to their most successful films like The lion king and Aladdin (though there are non theatrical sequels to them) many were not expecting a sequel of Frozen.
There were rumors of a sequel since the release of the film but no official announcement was made and even this isn't any official confirmation but Idina menzel voice actor of Elsa and the singer of the film's immensely popular and Oscar winning song 'let it go' confirms in a interview with the guardian that the sequel is "in the works"
Disney has already rolled out a series of Frozen- related TV, game and home-entertainment spinoffs, including a cross-over TV episode with Disney-owned ABC’s Once Upon A Time and a sing-along video version. When asked about the stage musical, short film AND possible sequel, Menzel said...
"They're all in the works, ha ha!" The Guardian then said that she was asked if she was signed up for all of those things, she replied, "Ah, yeah sure… Not the stage show – I don’t know what will happen with that – but the movie hopefully. We’ll see. I’m just going along for the ride."
Once again, nothing is official yet but it looks like Disney is eager to make the sequel, though it would be more logical if they announced a sequel for either wreck it Ralph or this month's big hero 6
