Thanksgiving weekend typically offers some solid family movies, this year won't be an exception. Penguins of Madagascar will definitely attract these audiences but an R rated comedy sequel also will try to score on its predecessors good will. Although both movies are looking at a solid debut, the first position is out of reach and just like last year's thanksgiving, The Hunger Games threequell will remain on it's position but with a much lower gross. considering its softer than expected debut and mixed word of mouth, it's fare to expect that Mockingjay will fall harder than catching fire probably in the 55 to 60 percent range which will results around 50 million.

DreamWorks film's are having a rough time at the box office. this year there first offering Mr Peabody and Sherman barely crosses 100 million and highly anticipated sequel How to train your dragon 2 underperformed, though the latter is saved by its huge overseas business. The Penguins is in much better position, it's a spin off of their very popular Madagascar series and has their own animated series. so the characters are particularly well known. Unlike Dragon 2, the marketing gave importance on the humor and action, which is now a day's a very successful formula to sell an animation film. The only problem looks like big hero 6, which is in its fourth weekend but still going strong. DreamWorks previously made another spin off 'Puss in Boots', that film did more than 70% of its business from the overseas market. penguins is almost guaranteed to go that way.

Probably for the very first time a studio is releasing a major comedy film on a thanksgiving weekend, and the movie in question is 'horrible bosses 2'.in 2011 the original Horrible Bosses opened to $28.3 million on its way to $117.5 million total. the film was generally well liked as proved by its strong leg. the original cast Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day all are returning and additional cast includes two strong new name, Christoph Waltz and Chris Pine. there names give the film some serious boost and helps to differentiate it from the original.

Still it's unknown how well liked the original film is and if audiences are really interested to watch the cast in another film. unlike the original, this one isn't well received by the critics with a rotten tomatoes score around 30%although the Thursday night's strong midnight haul means the film is in a better position than expected. look for a three day haul on the high 20s.
Box Office :
Mockingjay Part 1: 54 million
Penguins of Madagascar: 37 million
Horrible Bosses 2 : 29 million.
